Getting your blood test results
The requesting doctor receives the results, and will file them with a ‘comment’. This is usually ‘acceptable’, ‘normal’ or ‘satisfactory’.
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, they will contact you. This is best done by text message so please make sure your contact details are up to date.
If your requesting clinician is away, the result will be viewed by a colleague to make sure no urgent action is required, but may not be ‘filed’ until the requesting doctor returns.
Once a doctor has reviewed and files your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your Patient Access account
- phone or visit us between 11am to 4pm and we will tell you what the results are
Radiology (x-rays and scan) results
Hospital requested scan results go back to the requesting hospital clinician. Please contact the hospital team for the results.
Scans requested by the GP will have the report sent back to the requesting GP. The reporting time can take several weeks. We will usually send you a text message with the outcome of the scan report. Please make sure you have updated your contact details.
Questions about your results
If you want some feedback about about your results, fill out our ‘contact us online‘ form, or book a telephone call or face to face appointment to discuss. Please note we do not get copies of hospital blood test results.
Sick (or Fit) Notes
To request a sick note:
- fill out a sick note request form filling in as much detail about your absence. If you have not contacted us before about this episode, we may need to speak to you.
- phone or visit the surgery from 10am to 6pm
If you’ve been off sick for 7 days or less
If you’re off work sick for 7 days or less, your employer should not ask for medical evidence that you’ve been ill. Instead, they can ask you to confirm that you’ve been ill. You can do this by filling in a form yourself when you return to work. We call this self-certification.
