The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is a feedback tool which offers patients of NHS-funded services the opportunity to provide feedback about the care and treatment they have received. The FFT tool combines a simple question, asking patients how likely they would be to recommend the service they have received to their friends and family; with a follow-up question to enable patients to provide further detail about their experience.
The opportunity to complete the test is offered to all who visit the surgery. Cards for completion can be found next to the patient check-in terminal. In addition to this, we send a survey to patients via the Accurx text messaging system inviting patients to provide feedback. The survey is sent 24hrs after their appointment. This facility is only switched on one week per month with paper submissions available the rest of the month.
Introducing the test and reporting the results every month became a requirement for all GPs from December 2014.
